National Aboriginal Day at Rotherglen

What a treat it was to have Julia’s Nana, whose heritage is Mi’kmaq, and her friend Cathy, whose heritage is Six Nations, at the school to teach us about the Aboriginal way of life. The students were taught a traditional Aboriginal song and they had the opportunity to handle authentic native artifacts and play a hand drum. Wela’lin! (Thank-You! in the Mi’kmaq language) Sincere thanks are also extended to Mrs. Firdosi and Ms. Chansamone for organizing this special day and for their tremendous efforts in preparing the related theme units of study for each class!
