Butterfly Release

This entry was posted in Oakville Elementary News, Rotherglen News.

It was a very exciting week with the release of our Painted Lady butterflies!  After weeks of nurturing our caterpillars in their terrarium and studying the life cycle of the butterfly in our classrooms the day finally came this week to release them to nature. It was with great anticipation that the children carefully walked them outside to our Butterfly Garden, opened the top flap and held their breath as each butterfly spread its wings and flew up, up and away! Close observations continued as a few butterflies settled onto the grass for a rest before embarking on their great adventure in the natural surroundings of the school grounds. This is a highly anticipated part of our Casa and Grade 1 curriculum experience from year to year!
