In thoughtful collaboration, Rotherglen School, Montgomery Sisam Architects and Venture Construction have worked closely together over the past two years to plan new and innovative spaces for our students to create, grow, experiment and explore.
The need for state-of-the-art facilities to deliver a differentiated and enriched curriculum, and the desire to enhance opportunities for our students academically, socially and emotionally, have been the driving forces behind our decision for this expansion.
Our expansion includes:
A bright and vibrant Art Room
Offering our students a space to explore their creative talents, our new Art Room has direct access to the courtyard, allowing for both indoor and outdoor artistic workspaces.
Size: 879 sq.ft.
A larger and acoustically-sound Music Room
Our new music room allows students, in Casa through Grade 8, an open space for movement, practice, and for our choirs, rock band, bucket drummers, and guitar ensembles to rehearse in full formation.
Size: 824 sq.ft.
A new STEM Laboratory
Our uniquely designed classroom includes both wet lab facilities, and movable tables and chairs. This new space provides our Upper School students an area for research, experimentation, and a collaborative space for them to explore the curriculum.
A New Gymnasium for Student Programming
Our new gym provides added space for our lower school students’ physical education programming. The new gymnasium also provides room for our assemblies, musical rehearsals, parent events, and for our newly expanded extracurricular clubs and intramural activities.
A larger Learning Success Centre
Our new Learning Success Centre is the hub of student activity within Rotherglen. This new space allows for students to collaborate, work independently, receive one-on-one support, work in small groups and/or find a quiet place to complete assignments.
Size: 1,900 sq.ft. combined
Common Spaces
Within the common areas of our new expansion, we have purposefully created space for our students to connect, collaborate, and use as additional places of learning outside of the classroom.
We are excited to engage in this new venture with our community, and we are confident that creating new places for learning will serve to benefit our students’ experiences both in and out of the classroom at Rotherglen.
