Beginning in Grade 4 a progressive approach to instruction and learning is implemented, building upon a strong Montessori foundation. In addition to our core academic programming, students receive instruction by specialist teachers in music, computers, physical education, art and French. The focus remains on providing a rich and stimulating program in which students are eager to learn. Activities designed to improve self-confidence, promote self-discipline, develop organizational skills, and respect for others and our school community are incorporated into the program. The teacher-to-student ratio in the Junior School is 1:18.

Welcoming Our Future Grade 1 Students! In preparation for their transition to Grade 1, the Senior Kindergarten students from our Primary Campus toured the Elementary Campus! These young learners were warmly welcomed by our Grade 6 students, who served as tour guides and mentors for the morning. With “passports” in hand, the SKs explored the key spaces they’ll soon call their own; the library, the gym, the music room, and more. At each stop, their Grade 6 buddies explained how the space is used and each passport was stamped at every location, marking a moment of discovery and excitement and making the tour both fun and memorable. After the walkabout, students gathered for a light snack and conversation. The Grade 6 leaders were organized, enthusiastic, thoughtful, and incredibly kind, and they made a lasting impression on their younger peers. It was a joy to witness meaningful connections forming across grades. We’re so proud of our students and excited to welcome our SKs as full-fledged Grade 1 learners this September!
#Rotherglen #grade1 #oakville #privateschool #welcome34 0Our students participated in a community Spring clean-up and the grade 5’s welcomed families to their Science Fair.
Classroom doors and windows were beautifully decorated with gratitude messages and cards for teachers as part of Teacher Appreciation Week!
Also, we take a sneak peek in the grade 6 and 8 classrooms as they are busy working on their wind turbines and coding their EV3 robots!
Finally, staff members attended the Learning Strategies Conference and we can’t wait to see how the information learned will be used in the classroom and school!
#Rotherglen #newsatrotherglen #oakville #privateschool33 0This week, Rotherglen participated in Mental Health Awareness Week, joining communities across Canada in focusing on the vital theme of “Unmasking Mental Health.” It has been inspiring to witness our students and staff wholeheartedly embrace this opportunity for reflection, creative expression, and meaningful dialogue.
Each day this week, our classrooms have incorporated moments for thoughtful reflection on mental well-being. Students have been encouraged to pause, check in with themselves, and consider what truly supports their mental health. They explored what it means to look beyond surface appearances and understand the complexities of mental well-being. Conversations have centered on breaking down stigma, fostering empathy, and recognizing that mental health is a shared human experience. It has been powerful to hear students share their insights and support for one another.
Grade 4 to 8 students welcomed presenters from YouthSpeaks, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week. The presenters spoke to students about Empowering Young Minds. Topics included: self-care, a coping toolbox, movement-based coping tools, positive affirmations, thought-countering, and acts of kindness.
