The Grade 8 Environmental Committee has entered Rotherglen in the Ontario Schools Battery Recycling Challenge (OSBRC). The OSBRC aims to teach children and their families about the proper ways to handle, store and recycle batteries at home and at school. OSBRC schools have taken a pledge to recycle as many single-use batteries as they consume each year.
The goal of the challenge is to recycle 1.36 kg of single use batteries for every student and staff member in our community.
The Environmental Committee will be running this program until Earth Day 2020. Throughout the challenge, progress updates will be announced and students will be encouraged to help us reach the next level towards our final goal.
