Grade 3 Students Learn about Forces and Movement

This entry was posted in Oakville Elementary News, Rotherglen News.

Our Grade 3 students participated in an exciting Forces and Movements in-class Science workshop, hosted by Scientists in School. The students learned about the mighty forces of gravity, inertia and friction through testing in this fun & interactive workshop. The students investigated which forces came into play as they started, stopped, attracted, repelled, and changed direction of an object. They were amazed to discover the ways in which each force affected the operation of everyday devices. Throughout a series of hands-on experiments, the wonders of potential and kinetic energy were revealed. The students understood how energy can be stored and released to create movement. They constructed an amazing device that moved, using static electricity. Harnessing stored and moving energy, the Grade 3 students were thrilled to make a Rattlesnake Scare to bring home with them! It was a fantastic workshop!
