The Grade 3 students participated in an exciting Forces and Movements Mad Science workshop. They learned and tested the mighty forces of gravity, inertia and friction in this fun & interactive workshop. Students investigated which forces came into play as they started, stopped, attracted, repelled, and changed the direction of an object. They were amazed to discover the ways in which each force affected the operation of everyday devices. Throughout a series of hands-on experiments, the wonders of potential and kinetic energy were revealed. Students learned how energy can be stored and released to create movement. The students then constructed an amazing device that moved using static electricity. Harnessing stored and moving energy, they were thrilled to make a “Rattlesnake Scare” to bring home!
