Grade 7 Court is in Session!
The British have been accused of committing crimes against humanity for their role in the Expulsion of the Acadians beginning in 1755. Was the Expulsion a necessary form of action, or was it unnecessary and cruel? For the past week, Grade 7 History students have taken on the roles of Prosecution and Defense lawyers. They have been busy preparing their cases by gathering evidence from primary and secondary sources, formulating detailed arguments, and writing powerful opening and closing statements. Each team argued their case in front of a Judge and jury. Witnesses in the courtroom report very persuasive arguments from each side. This is a great example of taking historic events from the pages of a textbook and bringing them to life in the classroom, once again proving that History is fun!
