Grade 8 Art
Each Grade 8 class was given the task to work collaboratively to brainstorm and vote on one person for their Black History Month Portrait. 8BC selected Serena Williams, 8C chose Viola Desmond, 8K decided on Barack Obama, and 8R agreed on Kobe Bryant.
In addition, each class had to decide on a colour scheme keeping in mind markers were the medium of choice. This project was not without challenges, as markers ran out and replacements were used but did not match as accurately as needed. Students pushed through and did their best. They practiced excellent communication skills, showed strong leadership qualities and an ability to be open to learn from their peers throughout this project.
The end results are oversized portraits measuring just over 5′ X 5′. They turned out fantastic. Each and every grade 8 student should be proud of their contribution.
