Grade 8 Day of Service

On Thursday, October 10, the students in Grade 8 began their Day of Service by loading our substantial Food Drive donations into the Food For Life truck, to be distributed to those in our community in need. After the students enjoyed their Harvest Lunch, they left for Country Heritage Park and worked with members of Food for Life and The Toronto Black Farmers and Growers Collective. Together, they harvested Swiss Chard, celery, basil, cabbage and had the pleasure of sampling cherry tomatoes right from the vine. It was evident that this experience was very meaningful for our students. Not only did they make a connection with nature but also came away with an understanding of the importance of helping others and the impact they can have as “change makers”.
