Model United Nations (MUN) Committee News
Model United Nations (MUN) is a committee at Rotherglen School in which Grade 7 and 8 students have an opportunity to learn authentic legislative procedures and specific debating techniques, unique to the United Nations Councils, to successfully engage in socio/political dialogue. The committee researches global issues, and discusses issues while posing as a representative of a country, in a committee setting.
The Rotherglen MUN Committee recently took part in the KCCMUN conference and were among five schools debating topics ranging from the Ebola crisis to the taking of Crimea in Russia.
The day began with guest speaker and writer Eric Walters in the General Assembly. Mr. Walters spoke about how students can effect change in the world through action and diplomatic measures. All students left the General Assembly thoroughly inspired and ready to take on their conference topics.
At the end of the conference, the delegates were recognized for their outstanding performance in diplomatic debate at the General Assembly. Rotherglen School won the day, taking first place in every committee!
We congratulate all our MUN committee members for their outstanding contribution to the conference.
