Montessori Math Material Grade Two -Erin Mills

The Grade Two students enjoy working with the long division material referred to as the ‘Racks and Tubes’. This material is a fascinating tool that is used when the children are beginning their lessons in long division. Every child enjoys using the colourful beads to lay out their question and begin sharing out with their divisor. This engaging piece of material is always a favourite with the children. Once they learn the steps involved in long division using the material, they can then move on to independently solve equations without the use of the beads. This step is always a proud moment for the children when they realize they can do it on their own!
