News From Room 4
Throughout the month of October, the children in Room 4 have been working hard to learn the different skills and concepts taught daily. They are beginning to apply the valuable lessons learned from our Character Education discussions on Teamwork and Cooperation in their daily interactions.
Our class theme for the month of October was ‘All About Apples’. The children learned interesting facts about apples, which included names of many different varieties of apples and parts of an apple. We sang fun apple-themed songs and read books during our Circle Time. The children also completed an apple craft and a Lifecycle of the Apple project.
Our Food for Life Food Drive was a huge success! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Room 4 families for their generosity in supporting the Food Drive. The children beamed with excitement as they walked over to the foyer to place their food items into the bins. They learned the importance of helping those less fortunate in our communities. At Circle Time, children were introduced to various topics related to sharing with others, helping and being thankful for what they have.
The children are excited about coming to school dressed in black and orange on Monday! We are looking forward to a special day together as a class, carving our pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern, with their teachers’ help.
We are looking forward to November, when we will explore health and nutrition and the different food groups. Our goal this month will be to increase our students’ awareness of all the different foods that provide nutrition to our bodies, and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Our November Character Education Circles will be based on the theme of Empathy this month, which links with the phrase “inspired hearts” within our school vision.
