REACH Character Education: Exploring Key Character Traits

This entry was posted in Oakville Elementary News, Rotherglen News.

Last week at Rotherglen, classes engaged in an introductory lesson focussed on defining character and understanding the importance of developing positive character traits. All classes began by exploring our four key character traits for the year: flexibility, resilience, empathy, and responsible citizenship. They engaged in rich discussions on the importance of developing a strong sense of character and how each trait can help us become a well-rounded learner, friend, and a contributing individual in our communities.

Through collaborative brainstorming, classes from CASA to Grade 8 determined what it means to have empathy, resilience, flexibility, and to be a responsible citizen. Students thoughtfully reflected on how we can show these traits each and every day and completed a beautiful display for our front lobby to remind our community of how we demonstrate our strong sense of character.
