Summer Academy

Offers a variety of academic programs that focus on maintaining skills and enrichment activities.

Fees for Summer Academy:
$950 5 day for 2 week camps
$$855 4 day 2 weeks camps

$475 for 5 day 1 week camps
$380 for 4 day 1 week camps

Program Information:
• Students are required to bring their own lunches, snacks and drinks each day

• Rotherglen strives to be a nut-free and shellfish-free environment. Please ensure that food items do not contain nuts, traces of nuts, or shellfish

• No school uniform is required during the Summer Program. One complimentary Camp t-shirt will be provided, Camp t-shirts must be worn each day. Extra shirts can be purchased for $15.00.

• Outdoor play is scheduled daily (weather permitting), so please remember to send sun hats, outdoor shoes, and apply and send sunscreen daily

Staying Sharp (Grades 5 and 6)

Age: Students entering Grades 5 and 6 in September 2023 This is summer school with a difference! Staying Sharp 5 /6 Camp offers students an opportunity to continue to hone their literacy skills (reading, writing, spelling, phonics) and math skills through creatively designed, differentiated lessons delivered by Rotherglen teachers. Campers will take part in daily lessons as well as enjoying the benefits of the camp experience on Rotherglen’s exceptional campus.

Staying Sharp (Grades 7 and 8)

Age: Students entering Grades 5 and 6 in September 2023 In Enriched Exploration 5 /6, students will have various opportunities to delve into learning experiences that will pique their curiosity about topics related to science, technology and math as well as art, drama, and music - all skills that can lead to the development of inquiry skills along with leadership competencies to set them up for success!

Enriched Exploration (Grades 7 and 8)

Age: Students entering Grades 7 and 8 in September 2023 In Enriched Exploration 7 /8, students will delve into learning that inspires them to go beyond the curriculum. They will have a chance to be entrepreneurs, problem-solvers, team leaders, investigators and explorers in the areas of science, technology, engineering and the arts while making use of Rotherglen’s state-of-the-art campus, science lab, art studio, kitchen and other facilities.

Financial Literacy Camp

Age: Students entering Grades 5 and 6 in September 2023 The Financial Literacy Camp will immerse students in the world of finance, money and early economic thinking. They will explore what purchasing power means, how to perform various financial transactions, what sales tax and budgets are and how to begin thinking about their own financial future.

Wellness Camp (Grades 5 and 6)

Age: Students entering Grades 5 and 6 in September 2023 Students participating in the Wellness Camp will learn about how to care for their social-emotional selves. Through intentionally designed activities, including nature walks, yoga, meditation and meal planning, campers will explore how to manage social relationships, build their social and emotional competencies and how to understand and address their own personal wellness. Building on the Health and Physical Education curriculum for Grades 5 and 6, activities will be focused on mindfulness, positive decision making and healthy, active lifestyle choices.

Creative Writing Camp

Age: Students entering Grades 4 and 5 in September 2023 In Creative Writing, students will explore various creative ways to build their writing and storytelling skills. From developing cool characters, using dialogue and creating fascinating settings, to applying figurative language and writing techniques, students who are interested in writing will have fun while honing their talents as emerging authors.

The Great Debate Camp

Age: Students entering Grades 4 and 5 in September 2023 Students who would like to learn the fine art of debating will enjoy this camp experience. As they learn the structure for formal debating, they will also explore interesting and relevant issues that matter to them. This camp will give them a taste of public speaking, parliamentary debating and Model United Nations style presentations. The Great Debate Camp is a fun way to build on speaking and critical thinking skills!
