July 15

Art Camp: Art-rageous
Camp Leader: Ms. Bonnie Irwin
Art camp offers children aged 6 to 9 a week full of imagination, creativity, and inspiration through hands-on activities designed to enhance their artistic skill sets. Each day participants will create their own masterpieces based on the work of a famous artist. Campers will be able to experiment with a number of different mediums and materials including painting with watercolour and tempura, drawing with charcoal and graphite, printmaking with ink, and sculpting with clay and plasticine.

Nature Camp: EcoAdventures
Camp Leader: Mrs. Nancy Prpic
The Nature camp blends nature programming with recreation, adventure, art and games. It is a unique opportunity to explore and discover a variety of activities such as scavenger hunts, trail walks, gardening, making a birdfeeder, create games, painting with clay and so much more! We’ll also learn about insects and related invertebrates, and use magnifying glasses and collecting equipment to study these small insects. We’ll learn what a habitat is and create a home for our own special animal. We’ll end the week with a special Nature party!

Soccer Camp: Goalllll!
Camp Leader: Ms. Brianne Martin
Don’t miss the chance to get your soccer skills in shape! Through interactive games, drills, and camp challenges, children will be introduced to basic soccer skills, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. This camp will provide children with an opportunity to develop both as young soccer players, and as teammates. Each week will be focused on age-appropriate, fun and skill-developing games, with a World Cup twist! Players will be given a chance to share their skills during individual, and camp-wide challenges, earning points towards their team. To conclude the week, children will participate in a ‘World Cup’ style soccer tournament where they will be encouraged to dress up and compete, as representatives of their assigned country.

Camp Leader: Ms. Deanna Colgan
Drama Camp offers children aged 10 to 13 an exciting, hands-on approach to building self-confidence, imagination, self-expression, and an appreciation for the arts! Each week, we will explore fun drama games and lose ourselves in dramatic adventure, playful storytelling, and meaningful team building. One-week sessions built on different and exciting themes will guide your child towards developing the dramatic skills necessary for a young performer.

Dance Camp: Moves and Grooves
Camp Leader: Ms. Shannon Kelly
Come explore the wonderful world of Dance! Campers will enjoy a full day of discovering the unique personalities of each dance style,learn various techniques and investigate movement qualities and use these qualities in games and fun activities! The week will culminate in a performance on the Friday, where students will demonstrate what they have learned, and routines that they have created.

S.T.E.A.M: Challenge Your Mind!
Camp Leader: Mrs. Lisa Crawford
Exploring science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics students will complete a daily stem challenge. Collaboration and creative thinking will be an emphasis. The mornings will be for art and movement and the afternoons will be S.T.E.A.M. based.

Each day will have a different science theme, craft and experiment based on a different magic school bus episode. We will explore the scientific process of making predictions and accurately recording our results in fun and age-appropriate ways.

Cooking – Bon Appetit – Tiny Chefs Cooking Camp
Camp Leaders: Ms. Shannon Kernaghan
This will include learning about the science behind baking, measurement of ingredients, kitchen safety and baking techniques. Each day we will bake something different and learn a new technique. The children will create a recipe book throughout the week to take home at the end of each session.

This fun and educational camp will involve working on real-world design challenges using the Lego EV3 robotics system. Challenges such as capture the flag, maze completion, crash proof cars, and much more will provide a fun way to learn programming and engineering concepts. Participants will learn how to use different types of sensors to complete increasingly more complex challenges. Advanced users will have an opportunity to further develop their skills.

Baking Camp: The Chopping Block
Camp Leader: Ms. Bonnie Irwin
Baking camp offers children aged 10 to 13 the opportunity to become a pâtissier for the week! Participants will learn how to make pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods inside Rotherglen’s new kitchen space. Campers will use their Math skills to measure, convert, and divide recipes to make the perfect batch, along with their Art and English skills to create recipe cards and advertisements for their tasty treats. Be ready to pour, mix, and whisk your way through this fun-filled program!

This introductory camp will encourage children to explore the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through collaborative, hands on activities. Campers will also have the opportunity to learn to build and program robots using LEGO’s most advanced robotics technology, the Mindstorm EV3.
