In Creative Writing, students will explore various creative ways
to build their writing and storytelling skills. From developing cool characters, using dialogue and creating fascinating settings, to applying figurative language and writing techniques, students who are interested in writing will have fun while honing their
talents as emerging authors. Students who would like to learn the fine art of debating will enjoy this camp experience. As they learn the structure for formal debating, they will also explore interesting and relevant issues that matter to them. This camp will give them a taste of public speaking, parliamentary debating and Model United Nations style presentations. The Great Debate Camp is a fun way to build on speaking and critical thinking skills!
The Financial Literacy Camp will immerse students in the world of finance, money and early economic thinking. They will explore what purchasing power means, how to perform various financial transactions, what sales tax and budgets are and how to begin thinking about their own financial future.
The Speaking Out! Camp will provide students an opportunity to practice their public speaking skills as well as their general
oral presentation skills. Working on intonation, tone, body posture and more, students will become more comfortable and
confident about expressing themselves when speaking.
The Write Like a Pro Camp will immerse students in various types of writing; from formal styles of writing to fun, and informal
writing formats. During this camp, students will explore essay writing, poetry writing, creative writing and much more! Part of
writing is having an expansive vocabulary and a good knowledge of writing conventions so these will be part of the exploration into writing as well.
