Summer Academy

Offers a variety of academic programs that focus on maintaining skills and enrichment activities.

Fees for Summer Academy:
$485 for 5 day 1 week camps
$390 for 4 day 1 week camps

Program Information:
• Students are required to bring their own lunches, snacks and drinks each day

• Rotherglen strives to be a nut-free and shellfish-free environment. Please ensure that food items do not contain nuts, traces of nuts, or shellfish

• No school uniform is required during the Summer Program. One complimentary Camp t-shirt will be provided, Camp t-shirts must be worn each day. Extra shirts can be purchased for $15.00.

• Outdoor play is scheduled daily (weather permitting), so please remember to send sun hats, outdoor shoes, and apply and send sunscreen daily

Creative Writing (Grades 4 and 5)

In Creative Writing, students will explore various creative ways to build their writing and storytelling skills. From developing cool characters, using dialogue and creating fascinating settings, to applying figurative language and writing techniques, students who are interested in writing will have fun while honing their talents as emerging authors.

Great Debate! (Grades 4 and 5)

Age: Students entering Grades 4 or 5 in the fall of 2024 (Co-ed)

Students who would like to learn the fine art of debating will enjoy this camp experience. As they learn the structure for formal debating, they will also explore interesting and relevant issues that matter to them. This camp will give them a taste of public speaking, parliamentary debating and Model United Nations style presentations. The Great Debate Camp is a fun way to build on speaking and critical thinking skills!

Financial Literacy (Grades 5 and 6)

The Financial Literacy Camp will immerse students in the world of finance, money and early economic thinking. They will explore what purchasing power means, how to perform various financial transactions, what sales tax and budgets are and how to begin thinking about their own financial future.

Speaking Out! (Grades 6 and 7)

The Speaking Out! Camp will provide students an opportunity to practice their public speaking skills as well as their general oral presentation skills. Working on intonation, tone, body posture and more, students will become more comfortable and confident about expressing themselves when speaking.

Write Like A Pro (Grades 6 and 7)

The Write Like A Pro Camp will immerse students in various types of writing; from formal styles of writing to fun, and informal, writing formats. During this camp, students will explore essay writing, poetry writing, creative writing and much more! Part of writing is having an expansive vocabulary and a good knowledge of writing conventions so these will be part of the exploration into writing as well.
